The History of Kandhawa Green Children

The story of Kandhawa Green Children began on Monday, December 29, 2025, when over 50 children gathered for the first time at the home of the late Adrian Agola in Kandhawa Village, Rarieda Sub-County, Siaya County, Kenya. This inaugural meeting marked the birth of a community-based organization dedicated to empowering children and addressing environmental challenges in the village.

Present at this first gathering were also a few adults, who are envisioned to form the Management Committee once the group is formally registered. Their role will be to guide and support the children in achieving the organization’s mission.

Our Objectives

The primary objective of Kandhawa Green Children is to create environmental awareness among children and actively involve them in responding to the pressing environmental challenges affecting their community. By nurturing responsibility and stewardship in the younger generation, the organization seeks to build a sustainable future for Kandhawa Village.

Our Programs

The programs of Kandhawa Green Children are designed to combine education, practical action, and community service:

  • Education and Awareness Programs: Teaching children about environmental conservation and sustainability.

  • Tree Planting in Homes: Encouraging families to plant trees around their homesteads to improve the environment.

  • Fruit Planting: Promoting fruit farming as a source of nutrition and income.

  • Community Services: Involving children in activities

  • Forestation: Promoting plating trees where deforestation had taken place
